Darryl Riggins

Bio

Darryl Riggins serves as the Running Backs Coach at Silverdale Baptist Academy and enters his 20th season with the football program. He coached at the middle school level from 2007–2016 before joining the high school staff in 2017. Riggins focuses on developing disciplined, dependable running backs who play with toughness, understand their responsibilities, and contribute to the success of the entire offense.

Riggins graduated from Georgia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in general business. As a member of the Georgia Southern football program, he was part of the Eagles’ 1985 and 1986 NCAA Division I-AA National Championship teams.

Outside of coaching, Riggins has spent more than 30 years in the paper industry, including 12 years with Mac Papers and the past 20 years with Athens Paper Company. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in July 2007 and is passionate about sharing the Gospel with young men. His purpose as a coach is to teach lessons that extend beyond football and help shape players into faithful men prepared to lead their families, churches, communities, and country.

Coach Riggins is the father of twin sons who graduated from Silverdale in 2021 and later earned their degrees from Middle Tennessee State University. Both now serve on college campuses through the ministry of Campus Outreach.
